Brea Olinda High School opened at its current campus in 1989. Thirteen different locations for this new high school were considered before a hilltop site owned by Unocal was selected. The fifty-acre high school was prime real estate, with sweeping views all the way to the Pacific. On Nov. 1, 1986, a parade of yellow school buses pulled up a steep slope to a small plat of level land, where groundbreaking ceremonies were held. An additional science classroom building was constructed in 2007 using funds from a successful bond measure in 2000. BOHS is the only comprehensive high school in the BOUSD and serves the community of Brea.
Brea Olinda High can be summarized by excellence in the four “a's”—academics, activities, arts, and athletics. This tradition of excellence is ensconced by a strong student support structure. Recognized multiple times as both a California Distinguished and National Blue Ribbon School, BOHS has a reputation for success.
